how many of you really suffer from the S4's drinking GAS??

I average ~19-21mpg in mixed driving I commute almost 100 miles a day.
If you aren't driving a lot each year what are you really giving up by having a thirsty car? 50-100-maybe 200 a year? I think it is worth it. My next car will have to get a little better fuel economy but I drive over 30k a year.

no not at all, but like i stated i love driving...
and driving an S4 would put a smile on my face at all times, my main question was since i NEVER ever cared about how much a car wastes gas would i be concerned with an S4

I get 25mpg on the highway...
Unless the instrument cluster readout is lying to me, I see ~25MPG w/ my B6S4 with cruise set @ 65mph on the highway (highway is only a 55mph highway)

the way I look at it, if gas mileage is even a concern then it's probably not the car for you...
people make a huge deal over how much gas costs and how many giant SUV's there are and about driving gas guzzling sports cars or higher end sedans when it's really not even the people that own those vehicles that care about mileage!!
Take a look at Hummers, Range Rovers, Escalades, Ferraris, Lambos, even Audis, etc... most people that have the means to afford these vehicles are also in a position to not give two ****s about how much gas costs. That's not to say it doesn't suck when the prices go up but I don't know anyone that owns any of these brands (or anything in the same class) that leaves their cars in the garage now and finds other (cheaper)modes of transportation.
I guess w/ the prices of the S4's dropping into another price bracket (much more affordable now) it attracts a different buyer (not a bad thing at all) that's able to buy/enjoy the car but I guess the latest buyers are more conscious of the actual running costs of the car.
Anyway, yes the car is going to use way more gas than your 540i but will probably be much more enjoyable at the same time. I wouldn't let an additional $40-50/month keep you from buying it.
Good luck.
