Hey all,

I just purchased a CPO B6S4 and on my drive home i noticed a "humming/whining" noise in the car. If you try, you can sort of feel the vibration in the steering wheel as well. I went to my dealership and regarding this issue and they said "could no duplicate". The Service Adviser said that all S4s make that noise and have vibrations going through the wheel. this that true?

Please advise.

Is it when you turn the wheel? if so power steering. If not, its normal sound of the timing chain??

power steering fluid maybe? when my car whines I feed her fluid and then she's happy

Thanks for the tip though... I feel I may know a little bit about the brand. This is my first S4 but my 4th Audi ('03 TT Quattro, '03 Allroad, '06 A4)and my 7th Audi/VW ('04 GLI, '04 R32, '05 Touareg(still have)).

In any event, Never experience this type of noise/vibration before.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Is this while you are moving or stationary?

I had this problem, and have heard it on other S4's. They had to replace the Airbag spring, or something like that. but you only heard it when driving around. i dont know if thats what your hearing, doesnt sound like it.

Most common problem reported with the S4 is loss of PS fluid. Causes a wieird vibration and noise. FYI, as per Audi TSB, the PS Fluid should be at 10mms ABOVE the MAX line.

...I had PS problems and what you describe is how I would describe it. I also had foamy fluid in the PS reservoir. Anyway, just wanted to add the info just in case.
