i heard pure acetone 2oz per 10gal will improve gas mileage by 10MPG. Is this true?

I wouldn't use acetone for anything but cleaning. I have used it for cleaning deck and head surfaces, cam journals and crank journals before an install and such.
If you are looking for an additive I was use Toluene or Xylene. The downside is these are so cost prohibitive you might as well use race gas like C16.
There is of course the option of using a blend of regular gas and about a gallon of E85. You don't really want to use to much more than that because of lacking ability we have to tune for it. I am planning on running straight E85 in my talon when I get back from Iraq in couple of months. The knock threshold it has in boosted applications is amazing not to mention the price. The reason why I say not to use more than about a gallon is it takes about 20% more E85 make the same amount of energy as normal gas. Because you will need the ability to inject more fuel in than you would for gas if you were running straight E85, this is were the tuning capability needs to come into play because you will need to run bigger injectors.
Now, since I only suggested running about a gallon per tank for the S, what will happen is obviously the two fuels will mix. This will raise the knock threshold of the fuel in the tank. This in turn will allow the ECU to run slightly more aggressive timing without the onset of knock to pull timing.
