Default and just for fun ...

try to figure out how to replace the jack in the trunk and fit properly ... he said he could not explain it over the phone (to which i scoffed), and asked i come in so he could show me ... got there and he could not remember how to do it ... got his head S4 tech to come out, he could not do it... we opened up an A4, looked it over and finally got it.

Default I had it happen to me in my garage on a level surface with the jack

in the EXACT place specified in the owner's manual. The jack collapsed inward causing damage to the door wing on the rear passenger side. I had used the factory jack many times in my B5 so I was pretty familiar with how they work and still had it collapse.

I am not sure what the solution is, but I would be very careful when using the jack.

Default My dealer is paying for damage

I had a problem on a completely level, paved surface that resulted in $400 dollars in repair. I told my service manager about the issue and he contacted the AoA regional rep. Audi offered to pay for all of the repairs and sent the description of my jack issues to AoA.

Default It ain't easy but...

Folding the arm is the key. You actually have to flex it a bit to get it to lock in the right position before stowing it.

I can post a pic if you want.

It may be kinda hard to see but the handle folds against the back of the jack in this picture. Handle **** is pointing down.

http://www.treadonus.com/photos/S4Pics/Jack_01a.jpg</a

Default Bottle jack could be the answer, unless

you want to haul a 1/2-3/4 ton foor jack around in your trunk. Not likely!
