The above presumes that the XM pre-wiring was in the car. Their time is reasonable if they had to run wires to the head unit.

Default Can it be installed by someone with a little mechanical ability?

Or does it have to be installed and/or activated by the dealer?

While an easy install, I tried DIY but couldn't get it done so chose to get ripped off by dealer.

Default i put it in myself becasue the dealer wanted 200 to install...

it took me all of 15 minutes once i found some info on how. i can't understand how it would take 3 hours for an experienced mechanic to do this. this does not say much about their skill if it really took this long....

Default About 45 minutes - cause I had to partially remove the rear side trim panel

which although relatively easy - tooks some time. Couldn't reach the wiring as it was strapped down tight. $300 is absurd.
