I just followed the way the ADR instructions indicate
No tapping involved, just strip the positive part and wedge it in with a switched fuse (look at the instructions to see which one they used), and ground on one of the bolts around there. No risk of breaking wires or leaving something permanent when you remove it.
On my old car I did use the tap that came with it, though.
