More detail, but still no evidence...
See the thread below. Synopsis...it appears in Bentley and ETKA, but it appears to be spec'd for warmer climates. My guess is the north american market is not a "warmer climate", but being that so many VW's have this pump, I could be wrong. My Passat is engine code ATQ and it definitely has one. The older Passats had a 2.8L engine, but it
was the VR6 design. My Passat has the Audi 2.8 L 30V engine and it definitely has it. One of the posts in your link talks about the AHA engine as well and that is also the Audi 2.8.

You're right...
I've never heard this pump on an A4, however on a Jetta VR6 it's a very clear and distinct "whine". Anyway, it's been confirmed (by you and others), the A4 does indeed have this pump.

The car does have three radiators...so I imagine it gets HOT.
But never heard anything remotely sounding like an afterrun pump.
But then again, I never heard it on the B5 EVAR either. ;-)
