Key remote won't lock or open doors?

I'm under the assumption that it has to do with me having the negative battery disconnected most of the day.

So what do I need to do to get it working again?

1 of 2... 1) get new batteries for the remote 2) open the door with the key, start car so that

it'll be reprogrammed.
