Default Loss of coolant questions

Hi All,

I've seen a couple of posts mentioning loss of coolant in their S4's. I am noticing the same problem in my '04 S4. I never see anything under the car but the coolant level is now below the minimum mark and I get a faint smell here and there when idling. A thread a few weeks ago (https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/287322.phtml) mentioned gasket problems in the motor. I'm wondering if my car has the same issue.

Anyway, couple of questions.

1. The thread I linked to above mentioned a TSB. Does anyone have that TSB so I can read through it and reference it when I call the dealer.

2. I'm in MA and bought the car at Brookline Audi. How do I choose a dealer to do the work? Do I have to bring it back to Brookline Audi since that is where I bought the car. They also did initial work changing the radior when I first smelled coolant. They are way out of my way but where ok to deal with. Bernardi Audi (Natick, MA) is convenient and I haven't had a problem with them when they have worked on my wifes A4. Brookline Audi will give me a Neon or something for a loaner. Will other dealerships give loaners for certified S4's? If the problem is with the gaskets in the motor it seems like a major job. I don't want a unskilled shop doing a tear down of the motor or a motor replacement.

I enjoy driving the S4 but stuff like this is shaking my confidence a bit in the car.

Thanks for any advice.

Default I think JD has had a long standing coolant loss issue. He is having his engine torn down to

replace some seals.

Default Have them check around the accessories (PS Pump, Water Pump)...

thats where my leak was. If your leaking from there you will see burnt coolant on the side of the block.
