Default Milltek Exhaust Install problems

My bad luck continues. . .Getting my Milltek non-res exhaust installed at the dealership today and it looks like the place where the exhaust hooks up to the stock downpipes or headers or whatever is not long enough and doesn't have the dimples that are usually there. It actually looks like it was cut off or something even though that was the first time the stock exhaust is even being taken off.

Does anyone have a picture of where the exhaust connects up to show what it is supposed to look like?

They are supposed to finish the install on Monday, but are going to have to send a part to a local shop to make it such that it will connect properly. . .

Anyone else run into anything like this or is this just more bad luck!!

Default Thanks man.. . .mine looks totally different. . Isn't that freakin weird?

Steve said that you took a look at it. . What did you think?

I'm not sure exactly what they are going to do to resolve it, but hopefuly, I will have my car back with the exhaust installed on Monday!

Thanks again, and it was nice meeting you!

So when is your Labree / Milltek Res setup arriving?

Default Your Welcome!

It did look like it had been cut short. I imagine they will get someone to weld an extension to the H-pipe on the milltek setup and then install. You should be good to go in that scenario.
Waiting to hear from Zev on the Labree. Milltek res setup will be hear this week.
Should be cool.

Default What is your dealership charging for installation (dp's & exhaust?)? . . .

Surprised an audi dealer will do something that might void the warranty. Have other dealers done this kind of installation? Thanks.

Default The dealership installed my Milltek setup.

No warranty issues whatsoever. Think they charged me less than $200 to install. I have been told they will install DP's as well and do not view them as warranty issues. Different strokes for different folks. YMMV

Default My dealer also did the initial install...

but the tips stuck out and shifted around because they hadn't pushed it together tight enough. Bill: $180. Took it to the local muffler guy, who completely disassembled and reassembled, now looks great. Bill: $35. You get good at what you do, and most dealers don't do exhaust work.

Default Exhaust - Install

Well after sending the H-pipe out to have the bushings removed. Also had them "true" the H-pipe ( make sure it was round and not egg shaped ) we used new exhaust bushings between the DP and the new H-pipe - which allowed for the gap to be taken in.

The tech and I have done multiple aftermarket installs and had not seen this ( shortened pipe off cat's before ) so each S4 that came in today went on the lift and we were making notes... LOL.

Anyways - of the 5 cars , 3 had the longer pipe w. dimples and 2 ( Rodney and 1 other ) were short... from the factory.

This was not a big deal, only had to be adjusted out more than we had to work with taking they system from one car and installing it on another. < shrug >

No problem either way - just took longer to get done...

I think he's happy now!

Steve

Default Excellent

Rodney, let me know what you think. You now have another reason to just go for a drive (sound of exhaust and of course the S4 Powah).
