If there's something better that costs less, then buy that. The price is what it is--if Audi calculated the "value" wrong, there will be S4s sitting on the lot and dealers will offer discount pricing.
Due to Audi's success the last few years, they no longer have to offer the price points they had to when they were still recovering from the Unintended Acceleration fiasco. Audi obviously feels that their products can compete with BMW on an equal footing and their pricing will reflect that.

when someone says its still just a "Japanese car" there is a reason. It isnt just stigma. Its design. These Japanese cars may look good from the outside. Most don't. But once you are on the inside they are crap.
I sat in the 350Z for a coupe of minutes and noticed how plain and basic it was. So I decided well I like the outside styling I should give the Infiniti G35 Coupe a chance since Inifiti has nicer styling. Its the same thing. Slightly nicer, but the same junk on the inside.
Maybe its just not explainable but I will never drive a Japanese car over a German car ever.

They are in the business to make money.
Japanese cars are cheaper cause they are more mass produced. Less goes into making them.
How come Japanese cars change body styles all the time ?
They keep changing. German engineering lasts through time.
Take an old Merc or Porsche. They very closely resemble the cars being made today.
Don't be fooled and think they are making an effort for the customer. These are business' making an effort to turn profits.
Audi is selling cars really well as of late. If they can get a higher price for there cars, why not ? Sure I'm buying another Audi and I'd love the price to be as affordable as possible. But at the same time who can fault a company for trying to earn the most it can ?
If you don't agree with pricing, don't get the car.
Get a Japanese tin can that is on every street corner and enjoy it.
You get what you pay for !

There's a certain feel that the Germans just get right. German cars feel more solid and substantial than cars from other nations. It may seem like a little thing, but it really communicates an ambience of quality to me--a very important trait in a luxury car.
Japanese cars are well put together, but they feel "light" to me. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not the feel I'm looking for in a car I own.
