I got a call yesterday from Keyes, they want me to trade in my 04 in for a 05. I pay around $1050 a month now. Yes I am getting raped! For the same payment they will put me in a new 05 with the same amount of time left on the lease for nothing down.

Here is my math on this problem.

Invoice on car is 46k
5k down 48 month lease at $499

Audi only takes in 29k for the car.

Where is there other 22k coming from?
A rebate from Audi?

So the charge me the same rate and pocket 22k comission for it? Yeah maybe they will have to pay a $1k penalty for an early out on the lease. Wow I have never been so pissed off over the phone.

BTW: Why do you care what they are charging others when you got stuck at 1050. Sounds like a good deal for you. You get out of an 04 for a brand new car ,05, for the same time period left and it costs you nothing but what you already pay. I need to call my dealer, he screwed me so maybe they can do this for me.

Because I know they are going to pocket 20k on this. And he wont tell me how they make money on it. The math is quite simple.

Remember, in a lease, you're only renting the car and paying for the depreciation on it while you drive it. Your down payment plus the sum of your monthly payments serves to cover the cost of that depreciation. At the end of your lease, you return the car and walk away. If the lease costs you $29K (between money down and monthly payments), they get that money <i>plus</i> they get the car at the end (which should be worth about $25-$30K at that point). That's how they make their money.

As far as the offer your dealer made, they're just trying to move inventory and take advantage of the $1000 cash-to-dealer incentive that's running right now. They figure they can get you into a new car at a better money factor, plus pocket the incentive bonus, thus keeping your payment the same and making a nice little profit along the way...

HE is not cute! If all they make is a grand on it they would go out of business. The way he is acting about it, and offering to drop the payment $100 a month and all this other crap. There is something else going on.

As far as I remember 42 remaining months of my lease times $100 is $4,200.00.

Wow by these calculations they would be loosing money. NO way!

I am in sales, we don't close deals to loose money no matter what.
