idle... It usually occurs when the car has been running for a while and is hot. At other incedents, during cold start, the car makes this really loud raspy rattling noise, then metal clunking, and after a few seconds it snaps in place and goes away. I have no idea if these problems are related, but these are really becoming a problem for me considering my warranty ends in 5k

Default Chain tensioner, its "normal."

If you search here or AZ you'll find everything you would have heard from this post and much more.

Default The clicking at idle could be the exhaust cooling off.

The exhaust gas temps drop off at idle... and it's normal for the metal to make "ticking" noises as it starts to cool. It's usually quite noticeable after you park a car in colder temperatures.

Default I don't think idle noise is a symptom...

But the startup rattle is easily diagnosed.

Default lol... dude, im a little more mechanically inclined then that... i think i know the difference

between the exhaust metal expanding, and a problem with the motor. I can promise you its not the Exhaust... You wont be able to hear the exhaust "clicking" over an idle (not parked) engine.

Default yea, i figured they werent related... I did think it would be the chain tensioner, but the idle

clicking noise is the real problem, first i thought it could have been throwout bearing but the noise doesnt change when i depress the clutch

Default it might actually be at low speeds too but i just dont hear it enough over the engine...

definately at idle though. The guy at Dealer cant diagnose it and its starting to **** me off. Where can i get a real mechanic to look at it. These dealerships need to stop hiring 17 year old oil changing and battery swapping techs.
