Default My dealer told me he HAS to install the front license plate bracket.

Has anybody come up with a solution yet? Obviously, I would rather not drill two holes in the middle of my bumper, and I'd like to offer a solution to my dealer before he breaks out the drill. I saw a guy on the A6 forum who was able to mount it right below the bumper. It almost entirely blocked the radiator, but it looked good. I STFA'd and didn't have much luck.

Default BS. . he doesn't HAVE install the front plate.

Don't let them do it! You will just be taking your chances with the cops. It's your money and your car so how can they 'have' to install the front plate?

Many of us don't have front plates installed. .

Default Tell the dealer if they put the plate on that you don't want the car.......

That is what I told my dealer and they did what I asked. There is no way the dealer can be held responsible for not putting a front plate on your car.

Default

Good idea, tell them to velcro it on and then you can take it off when you get home.

Default It likely that your plate must be

on the front of your car so you can get an inspection sticker. The dealer really can't afford to play games on this. However, velco should suffice. It worked for me.

Default Careful. I had a cop tell me that if the dealership did give me a car without a front plate...

that they could be liable because it has to pass a state inspection, and in VA, two tags is a must.

Default I know a lot of you don't have your front plates installed.

But this is California and we have a budget crises so cops write tickets for anything. My dealer told me that that Palo Alto police periodically stop by and check up on them, just to make sure they are installing front plates! BTW, I like the velcro idea, thanks Machtig...

Default I don't think anyone who asked not to have a front plate is going to blame it on the dealer......

I would just tell the cop that I took it off myself or that the bracket is back ordered.
