To Nav or not to Nav ??? That is the question???

Great question, how's MMI and where is live traffic info?
That is one question I would be strugling with if I was getting a new car today. Can anyone share their experience using MMI for Car Nav? I have a feeling that a touch screen would be much better for entering addresses, etc. Also, that one thing that I see missing from Audi's Nav options is live traffic (and even weather) information.

my take- skip nav., spend the $2k on wheels with snow tires or something else
What is it, a $2,000 option? My experience with Audi electronics (ICE) is that they won't hold up either past a few years. My double DIN head unit hasn't play a CD in two years. The 6 disc changer is acting up now too. At least I can I can throw in an aftermarket unit for cheap...it will be hard to match the rest of the car though. If your nav. unit craps out, then what do you plan on doing?
Why do nav. units cost so much? Has not the tech. come along way by now? Look how LCD TVs have dropped in price...why not nav. systems?
If you really need nav., just go out and buy a Magellan hand-held. I hear they are very accurate and easy to update. Plus they are cheaper and you can switch it from car to car.

Re: To Nav or not to Nav ??? That is the question???
I have not been happy with the factory nav system. Not very user friendly and is very lacking in points of interest. My Acura nav system is much better. If you want nav, go with an aftermarket system.
