The articles are long and my stupid HP scanner only works with Windows 98 (brilliant job HP, just brilliant). Here are the relevant quotes from the S4 Avant vs C32 AMG Estate article:
In the Manx sunshine, the C32 makes sense. Pushing harder, it just seems to deliver every time, through every corner. The Audi has grip, great big sticky clumps of it, but understeers its way around low-speed corners, felling heavy and nose-led. We better investigate further this wet-weather phenomenon... And the Audi stamps the Mercedes into the ground without breaking sweat. etc...basically the article concludes that with dry roads, the Merc could be better for driving, but as an all rounder, the S4 Avant wins with a better interior, manual transmission, and a naturally aspirated engine.
The next article pairs the S4 sedan against the M3 Coupe again (the first time, the M3 won, but it was a different writer/driver). This time the sedan wins because of stealth, better handling in the wet/bumpy roads, better interior, and for someone who doesn't drive flat out everywhere on smooth and flat roads. They rated the S4's combined city/highway mpg at 21.1mpg.

"They rated the S4's combined city/highway mpg at 21.1mpg."
Believe it or not, a gallon in the UK equals 1.2 gallons here, so 21.1mpg is actually more like 17.5mpg, which is pretty close to the 14/20 rating quoted by Motor Trend.
