New owner of 2004 S4: Initial impressions, lots of questions

3.) Two possible sources for the noise:
- rear seatback latches (these are metal to metal hook and pins. Try wrapping some teflon tape around the metal latch pins. Worked for me.
- door seals on door and door frame rub against each other and may generate noise if the seals dry out. Try some seal lubricant (non-silicone! no Armor All) and see if that doesn't quiet things down as well.
4.) Did the previous owner tint the windows? If he/she did and used a metallic tint, you could be having issues. Also check the rear diversity antenna itself, embedded in the back rear window and make sure there are no gaps or chunks missing.
7.) If you just want to go faster in a straight line, then I can't help you there. If you want to have the handling match the power, however, check out the line of performance parts that Stasis Engineering offer. I have just recently installed a stiffer H-sport rear sway bar, rear LSD, and modifiend Torsen Center differential. All I can say is WOW! The car now handles like it should have from the factory. Power is more immediate, turn-in is sharper, and loads of understeer have been dialed out. The car has a much more neutral behavior than before. Getting ready to install the Stasis Motorsports suspension as icing on the cake. The Ohlins dampers should really allow me to fine tune the ride.
8.) Your front windshield probably looks like ours and has lots of micro pitting, almost as if it has been sandblasted. The reason for this is that the glass is very soft, an unfortunate side effect of Audi's environmentally-friendly recycled glass they use for their windshields.
Hope this helps!
