i just bought my s4 at byers audi in columbus ohio(salesman mike david). got $2500 off sticker up front. i didn't even have to ask. i got a red sedan 6spd with all options but nav. they have a yellow 6spd sedan on the show room floor right now if anybody is interested and i am sure they would do at least that good on it. 2 other dealers i talked too before i bought my s4 were midwestern auto group(salesman ben winner)also in columbus ohio and beechmont audi(salesman mike lipschutz)in cinncinati ohio. both of them were discussing similar discounts and they have some in stock cars. hope this info helps somebody find the car they want. it really seems to depend on what area of the country you are in for the discounts.

You will likely get less than $1700 off an M3. Most still go for sticker in CA.
$1700 off an S4 is a damn good deal. $1700 off an M3 is pretty much impossible (unless you are buying from an Alaskan dealer than can trade away their allocation for an X5). Most people pay sticker (sometimes more -- sometimes a little less) for an M3.
I was lucky and got about $3k off my M3 -- so it is possible to get some big discounts. But mine was a wierd case (ordered from a New Hampshire dealer and as able to arrange delivery here in SoCal).
