Noise in the dashboard over bump, but only when car is cold. Is that possible?

In the first 5 minutes when I drive the car in the morning, I can hear a noise in the dashboard, like something is loose inside, when and only when I go over bumps.
But when everything is warmed up, I don't hear it anymore.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Or any theories on what this could be?
I am puzzled by the fact that if it's a loose thing, why is it not loose anymore when the car is warmed up.

The other explanation is that many materials (especially plastics) will get "softer" when warm. When they get softer, they may flex against an opposing surface rather than sliding against it. Sliding against another surface can cause squeeks, while flexing can be silent.
