Default Oil consumption test

Over the last 6 months my low oil pressure light came on twice. When I took it to the dealer they topped it up each time with about 3 litres.

Based on the distance driven from the last scheduled maintenance at 25,000kms to 40,000kms I basically replaced about 6 litres about .5 litre per 1,000kms.

The service guys indicated this falls within the Audi specs....barely and suggested an oil consumption test. They drain the oil for 10 minutes and weigh it and then I drive about 1,0000 kms and repeat the process. The result showed about 1/3 litre per 1,000 kms. the last 1,000kms were nearly all city driving and I'm sure it would have been a lot higher if I had been highway driving and pushing it a bit harder

So just to let you know there is a test out there and dont just keep topping off, but have them perform the test.

Default 10K miles (or 15Kms in your case) oil change interval is too long.

You need to half that

Default

I would just pay for an oil change in between (7500 km / 5000 mi)... it's not that much money.
