No the GTX does not meet the standard. Only the Syntec does.

Default Huh?

VW/Audi Approved Engine Oils (Manufactures A thru P)
Oil Quality Standard VW 502.00

For the most part, these are all 5W-40 viscosity. There are a few that are 0W-40 and some that are 5W-30. These appear in green for easy identification.

For a list of 502.00 approved oils for sale in the US, click here.

Default Ok. Talked to Castol. GTX doesnt meet 502.00. BUT my manual doesnt specify 502.00. It has

API Service SJ and ACEA A2 or ACEA A3. I can not find anywhere in the manual thats specifies 502.00. Guess Im **** out of luck.

Forget 502. The oil has to be ACEA A2 or A3. GTX is not. Syntec is.

Default From the manual it says

GTX is API Service SJ, but not ACEA A2 or A3. The way I read this is that the oil needs to satify API or the ACEA standards? I am jsut trying to see where the dealer is coming form. If the oil has to satisfy both, then I agree with you and GTX should not be used.

It doesn't say either/or, but must meet all criteria.

Default 502 is a specific brand listing...specs in manual indicate general oil grade classification.

The 502 makes it easy for us to spec a specific brand without picking up every friggen can of oil to look for the API coding.
HINT: PENNZOIL Platinum Euro Formula is the way to go and available at Car Quest stores.
