Ok everyone, it's POLL time... Aluminum Racing Jack (which one?)
I've been in the market for a new one and have had some bad expereinces with a big red torin 2 ton jack (fell apart) and have looked at the stuff on harbor frieght and the likes.
I like the Aluminum Racing Jacks that are bout 35-50 lbs and have a low clearance and seem to be about 120 bucks.
so that said, and a trip to www.froogle.com in tow... which one's do you guys like? post links and pics if ya got em.
TIA.
David.

lmao! nevaR!
I just had one that's "ok" but after working on my car as much as I am and knowing it's something you get once, do it right and the like.
I'm really close to getting the 199 one from Sears (as you know Sears stands behind their products) and the Harbor Frieght one is 129, but no assured guarantee....
just doing some track day tool shopping.
Those Farkin Torque wrenches from Sears suck I've been through 4 of em, (but they keep warrantying them for free)but between that and some new wrenches, I'd figure it's best to see what others are doing.

Ditto on Craftsman jack...very pleased with it...
I too waited for a sale as well as signed up for the craftsman club and did an online enrollment in some email newsletter thingy and got another 10% off. Used it at Fernley and other folks who borrowed it were impressed with the one pump action to lift the saddle (actually takes 3 to get the wheel off the ground, but still nice). Also, it breaks down nicely for transport.
I briefly had the blue one made by Torin and had posted a while back that it didn't even work (and was told by other members of having seen it fail). But I guess it needed to be bled and that's why it didn't initially work for me...couldn't raise the car. But I find that worrisome that a new jack would have to be bled and none of my previous craftsman jacks have never needed it done. The craftsman is also pretty heavy duty in its construction as compared to the 1.5 ton Torin one I had (night & day IMO). Lastly, when I do other events outside of Audi I see a lot of people using this jack. As someone said, the delta in price is trivial compared to safety and piece of mind. It's worth the $200 even if you can't get it on sale IMO.
