Agreed. In general, first production year is the worst, and last production year is the best.

Default So you think it's ok to pull a date out of your *** >

And tell a newbie who is buying a $30k car that a certain build date is safe with no real facts ?
Like I asked up front...where did the good doctor come up with 10/03 as a safe cutoff point ?
His silence speaks volumes in my opinion.

Default First year anything has bugs however there have been some known . .

Or better said common issues with 04's. All cars have their faults and it really depends on how hard the driver is/was. I'd recommend searching for an 05, there were some minor changes (cosmetic) too.

Default Everyone that had initial engine problems had vehicles with a 10/03 production date or earlier

It's not "out of [his] ***," as you suggest. While buying a B6 produced after 10/03 in no way guarantees it is perfect, it will greatly reduce your chances of buying a B6 with the engine troubles that were prevalent in those early vehicles.

It's a matter of probabilities. Feel free to purchase any car you want from any production month you want. You are never going to find any "facts" that say X month is perfect and Y month is horrible. The best we have is based on the experiences of others. Take from that as much as you'd like, but don't kill the messenger.

Default Source: Reading this forum for the last year or so and hearing owners' stories of engine failure.

and I've only been here for a short time. The old-timers like Sia, Dr. GP, et al., will tell you the same.

Why are you so skeptical might I ask? Do you really believe that engine failure has occurred to B6's produced after 10/03? If so, do YOU have any facts to support that contention?

Default Actually I have been here a long time, before the good doctor or Sia

I have followed this issue since the first B6 hit the port.
I don't think ANY of the engines will blow up or fail at this point.
I did say it was my opinion to buy as late a build date as possible...and you agreed.

To say that there is any definitive bad engine date is pure speculation and to say anything after 10/03 is safe is based on opinions and should be stated as such so the newbies can make informed buying decisions.
