Quality. This paragraph from AWE's website tells half my reason:
"<i>We know of no other exhaust manufacturer that takes the time to hand finish each and every of their welds internally, where smooth flow is critical. Look closely: you may find that only the clearly visible welds at the inlets or outlets of some systems are ground down smooth, but even the welds you cannot easily see on AWE Tuning systems are finished for flow.</i>"
I don't know of anyone else that does this either. Beyond that, the Milltek is the second aftermarket exhaust I've had on my car (the first was Labree) and the quality, in my opinion, is lacking. I've had the car in the air twice at two different custom exhaust shops and both shops made comments about leaks and sub par materials. The AWE exhaust is almost as beautiful to look at as FI's exhaust. And the appearance, in this case, does give a hint at the attention to detail and quality of the system. To be fair, I'm not a fan of AWE's tips. Milltek's are nice. Not as nice as FI or Labree, but nice.
Milltek fans, this is just my opinion. Feel free to have and state your own.

I switched to Milltek because I needed a quieter exhaust for when I have clients in the car. For db, the full res Milltek is just right. At the time, I didn't know about the quality concerns. And the Milltek is by no means terrible. I just think the quality of some of the other exhaust systems is better.
