palisades parkway, NY and NJ (long)
I drive on palisades parkway from englewood cliffs everyday to work..I usually see a cop who already pulled someone over, so I get nothing on my V1, but then I get K band when they are haunting. Two scary experiences today:
I am going about 60 about to speed it up a bit, speed limit is 50, and then I see everyone breaking in front of me, I break too and then I see a cop on my left just sitting there, no signal on my V1, does anyone know if he just didn't turn on his radar or are they looking to laser someone!
At night tonight im going the speed limit since no car is in my sight, bit too much of a target. I see a car coming from behind maybe half a mile away, as the car is coming closer, all of a sudden when he's 5 car lengths behind, my V1 goes bezerk for K band, did he just turn it on after seeing me? Does the V1 do nothing then? because if I'm alone and he's coming from behind there's no way to know to stop..

Man, that must have been a mess......
...all those broken cars on the parkway - and you intentionally broke yours........
break - to make something kaputt
brake - to slow down (like a car on the parkway)

Laser, Radar...
No telling what the cop had if you didn't get a V1 alert... he could have instant-on, or a laser. If it is a laser, you'd probably see it as you drove past, since they are hand-held. It's also possible that it's a decoy-- I've seen the NYSP do that on occasion-- drop off an empty car (how this "improves safety" is beyond me).
My V1 is extremely sensitive, especially on Ka band. I've gotten at least 1/2 mile warning, even more. The only issue I have (not the fault of the V1) is those cheap pieces of crap that other companies sell as radar detectors. I was behind a car that had one of this POS the other day at a bank drive-up window... the oscillator was so leaky that my V1 was dancing up a storm.

Re: Palisades
On the Palisades and GSP and NJ tunrpike the cops use the instant on or laser so unfortunately you won't know until it's too late.
The V1 is still better than anything else, but no radar detector foor proof.
