It's interesting that Pearl White has been around for a number of years and only just now is Audi withdrawing. I wonder if they finally just give up on whatever the "handling" issues are, until they can come up with a better process.
Papaya seems a little different at this point, since it sounds like it's only on "hold" and not actually been withdrawn (at least yet!).
I guess I'll wait and see what develops over the next month or so. I like the idea of having a really unique color, but at the same time would still be anxious about ordering a $50+K car without ever having seen the color in person.

Or at least that's my understanding. All the German companies are shifting due to environmental and worker-safety concerns. The problem is that not all colors can be reliably produced with the new paint systems. Also, the newer paints are MUCH less chip-resistant than the former poly-based paints. Mercedes has been getting a lot of customer complaints about poor paint durabilty. I don't see why Audi should be different.
Of course the body shops here don't have to use the same base to match the color. When my wife's Mercedes was crashed and repaired last year, the replacement paint was urethane-based, matches the color exactly, but is FAR more durable and chip resistant than the factory paint was.
Anyway, that's what I've been told (probably don't know what I'm talking about tho

I had ordered my 3.2 TT in PO and, like you, had to pick a new color or wait TBD time until PO was available again. Thought occurred to me that PO might be cancelled so I went with Brilliant Red instead. Damn shame about the PO issues - looks awesome on the TT!
