Pedals way too high

This happened to my S4 shortly before the brake booster blew apart.
The brake pedal started to feel very high, and very touchy, and couldn't heel-toe as normal. A few more presses of the pedal, and the brakes were full on locked (luckily got off the highway before she full on stopped).
Brakes were *smoking*. Killed the motor, and 10 minutes later keyed-on and heard the calipers unlock with a "CLACK!". Then, of course, NO brakes.
Sucked!
