Especially after the experience of it adding about 0 to the eventual sale value - WHEN the "right" buyer finally came along.
It would have been better spent elsewhere, like on a true, built for boost S4, which could have been substantially upped in h.p. (especially in light of the NA-intended motor and systems) for about the same, and not viewed as "abused" later on.
B6/7 S4 (and RS4), with its NA V8, is going to be in a similar quandry.

The resale just makes it hurt more. I shoulda given in and picked up a similar S4, instead of holding to the sentiment of "I can make THIS one faster", especially when "faster" was only marginal. Pwnt by sentiment.

But you certainly don't get anywhere near 100% of your money spent.
A Stage III B5 will sell for $18k-$23k all day long, when the same care stock blue books out at $13k-$16k.

.....going from a NA motor to a boosted version of that same NA motor, whether V6 or V8. The V6 S4's internals were built for boost, the NA's wasn't, again regardless of V6 or V8.
That's a major issue with SCing the V8. The only boosted NA motor I've ever really thought was worth the effort and expense, without going into the internals, was my Miata. I bought it with that in mind, and wasn't dissapointed a bit.
Hell, even some factory s/c-charged motors don't take to bumping the boost all that well.
