Phantom Black owners please reply.

Are you happy you chose Phantom (pearl finish) over Brilliant (glossy) finish?

Why?

Does Phantom look as good as Brilliant when sparkling clean?

I ordered Brilliant, but can still change and just saw two slightly dirty cars side-by-side at the dealer.
One Phantom, one Brilliant, they looked the same to me............................

Seems to me that Phantom might be a better choice for real world use if it still looks as b1tch1n as Brilliant when squeeky clean.

Brilliant Black. The Ebony Pearl looks in some light like a very very dark metalic gun metal gray. But most of the time looks very close to the Brilliant Black. I must say i like the Ebony Pearl better.

dealership was sold by the original dealership it was just not in the system as sold.... and the only car they have with the options I want is Brilliant Black.... oh well.

Oh and this is an A4 2.0Tq

My S4 is Phantom Black. I'm still trying to figure out the Pearl effect, though. To me it looks like Metallic Black especially on close-up. I think the Pearl Effect doesn't really come out on black. Anyway, I've only owned metallic black cars, but I've observed non-metallic black cars and they show swirl marks in the sun after they got washed several times. Metallic Black holds up much better. Dirt seems to be harder to see as well due to the metallic effect even with the Pearl finish. I love black cars, but I would never buy a glossy finish black. I initially ordered mine in Brilliant Black, but changed as soon as I found out that Phantom is offered on the 07 S4.

Brilliant black is a PITA to keep looking good. My dad's metallic black A6 looks much better than my wife's brilliant black A4 even though it is about 4 years older and has 2x the mileage. And I detail better than my dad.

Thus the reason I ordered my new S4 in dolphin.

"pearl effect" is actually a toner added to the clear coat. the pearl effect does include what most people call metallic.
that said, there are many many shades of pearl available and not all have the metallic effect added.

you should try to be a custom bicycle / guitar or drum painter..........................

i see no reason not to change my order from brilliant to phantom.
