Default I understand. I know exactly how difficult it is to listen AND drive at the same time.

Especially when you are a beginner. You are so excited, trying to listen to the instructor, trying to pay attention to the car...your going to make mistakes!! That's why your in the beginner group and not the advanced group. Your "buddies" should know this, especially if they are experienced with DE's.

I'm sure I was VERY scary at first when I was on the track. I had a very powerful car. I was going very fast. But I picked it up quickly and moved right along the echelon.

But it can be difficult, and sometimes, you can totally forget that the instructor was saying something, because your trying to keep your car on the track and learn as much as you can while listening to tips. It's hard!

Keep up the enthusiasm. There's nothing wrong with it. Just keep it in check with regards to street behavior, since that seems what your "friends" are upset about. But DE's will make you a better driver.

Default Well, I'm not a member of your club, so I obviously have no say with regards to your club's ...

activities. Nor how you should deal with your members when they breach certain "standards".

We have a club here in NC. It's called NCEuro.org. I'm not a founding father, but I'm a pretty enthused member and we have drives and GTG's all the time. We've had a few instances where unfortunate events happen, but there is not much that we can do about that. Sure, you can ban that member.

You guys have taken the extra step of not waiting for something to happen. You just banned. That can go either way and I know that, nobody would want anybody to get hurt, definitely not having one person cause harm upon another.

But at the same time, people can be jerks. And you can not like them. But to ban them for being a jerk is one thing. To ban somebody for not being able to drive is one thing. But not giving somebody the opporunity to better themselves and their driving is doing nobody any good, certainly not David.

I'm not knocking you, nor am I knocking your club's decision.

This is after all a B6 S4 board. He owns a B6 S4. He modified it, and wanted to share it with us. That is why he posted originally. ;-)

But I'm sorta glad you guys came over. We needed some action today. ;-)

Default The street driving is a biggie but...

the issue is with his confrontational attitude to criticism and instruction in the car and in-between sessions. He repeatedly ignored both and continued to drive in a way that endangered others on the track.

Default I offered some......

...I offered a lot actually. Not even going to get into the driving part - You and I had a discussion specifically about suspension. We talked the pros and cons of a standard set-up and coil-overs. That discussion is the main reason I find this thread so funny.

Default No no no...you misunderstood my point. It's not about you, it's about making trolls feel like $hit.

Immaturity (mine!) at it's greatest. Haha

Default Thanks! And they are HEAVY as sin...

but I don't mind, I'm not racing, so the extra second is of no concern to me. Besides, they look great moving on the track. ;-)

Congrats on the ring purchase. I've been dreading the day myself.

if you ever come down to VIR, let us know!

Default Beginners shouldn't trail brake, period.

Trail braking CAN be faster. But what's happening is without trail braking you maybe only get 90% out of the tires, and with the weight shift of a trail brake you can get 100%. But if you overdo it, the rear end comes around, and that's that.

No beginner needs to practice that on a street car. If you get 10-15 events under your belt and you want to experiement with it a little bit... maybe. But it makes the rear end pretty light and it can come around REALLY fast. Even in a tank Audi.
