Default Is it easy to tell if you have the plastic mirror housings?
I assume metal will be extremely cold or hot to the touch on cold or hot days...

Default Yes, it's easy to tell:
If you're SURE you have aluminum, you do. If you can't tell, then you don't. The aluminum housings are RIGID; the plastic ones are slightly flexible. I couldn't tell what the hell mine were made out of until I saw Sia's car which had the real deal.
