Poll: Who here still experiences the daily cold-startup high-pitched whining noise for about 1/2 mi?

I got it. Just got buried in my inbox. Sorry.
Mine is half way back from the leading edge of the grill slat.
The field of view and spread of the laser is such that mounting it farther back, as Lidatek mentions, will not block it's operation.
It's so small, so low and so uncommon I doubt any cop would notice it either way.

Ya, I saw the pic in the manual showing one transponder as far forward as possible while two can be
farther back.
How could it not make a difference if it's farther back or not? That's my question.
You can see the image I'm talking about by clicking "manual" checking its 3rd page:<ul><li><a href="http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html">http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html</a</li></ul>

Because...
...you're dealing with a narrow (outbound) beam and a laser gun is going to be fired straight at the car (well almost nearly) from a large distance. The transponders view of the world is not blocked from that angle. If you were talking about getting hit by laser at 50' way off to the side it would matter.
Get 1000' of string, tie to to the grill and walk to the end of the string in a postion a cop is likely to be in, now look at angle. Very very narrow angle.

Hmm. I understand your point, but I feel that my setup would have a bit more coverage if the cop is
to the side.
In any case, thanks for your thoughts. I think it would SUCK if I were to get caught because of it flush with the grill, but what would a cop do, look for it?
I mean, if he gets an error or no reading, and still pulls me over, he's going to be suspicious, or are no readings common? I don't know. Just wish me luck for I need it with the coppers.

Oh no worries about following those rules. That is what driving is to me, constantly watching out
for cops, unfortunately. I just want to drive at the s4s "convenience speed" which is just a bit too fast for the signs on the road, and I do more often than not. That's my problem. You can't get lucky all the time. The speeding tickets I've gotten recently were one at night with what I'm pretty sure was an unmarked car, and a damn bicycle cop. Bicycle. Yes. He caught up with me in traffic 10 mins later. I have quite a good chance to beat this one though.
I'm definitely not going to rely on the lidatek or v1 to save me. The lidatek will be useful for those times when you just didn't know there was a chance to get tagged.
Anyway, that's why I have an s4 and not an imola red m3, or a yellow z06 for that matter. :-D
