Default It's just not logical that a fully engaged threaded bolt can be stripped coming out.

If there are 5-6 threads all fully engaged, the bolt cannot jump the threads when it's being unscrewed and strip.

The only way to cross thread it is at the beginning when it's inserted.

Default Just a guess...but my guess would be whoever put on the tires crossthreaded the nuts.

When my wife took her A4 in for service at the local Audi dealership, they said the lugs had been crossthreaded, and the hub had to be replaced at a cost of $500.00. Since we last took her car to Discount Tire, we went back to them with the hub and nuts. They said that probably one of the guys did not start the lug off manually, and overtorqued it. Without any argument, they reimbursed my wife the $500.00.

Default It's only a rumor...I still wouldn't trust it. Better stick with TMNT DayGlo Green Speedo.

Sia might chime in to confirm; he's our resident Thong Tester.

Not only that, but IIRC Audi has a TSB stating to never use torque sticks...
