Power steering sometimes doesn't work

Power steering sometimes doesn't work
2007 B7 S4
I've had the car for two months and twice I've started the car and the power steering didn't work. I tried driving a little bit and the power steering didn't come back. I had to power off and start the car again, then it worked.
The weather is getting colder in Chicago. (if that makes a difference).
Any ideas? It happened today so I'm guessing it is a recurring thing and am worried about it happening more often. Quite a workout steering the car without power steering!
