Default PSA:: Reduce unsprung weight.

On the heels of Corrado's post... I recently went back to stock rotors (vs ECS lightweight) and my stock wheels. The total weight savings per wheel in the front WAS 20 lbs per wheel and 10 lbs for each rear. Having the heavy stuff back on makes the car feel like a moose, like I all of a sudden I have 4 people in the car. Makes sense as the estimated performance affect of removing 1 lb of unsprung weight is equal to removing 8 lbs of "sprung" weight. With the lightweight brakes the car launched easier and harder, accelerated quicker and turn in was noticeably quicker.

Lighten up folks. (:=

I hear that. It's too bad the ECS rotors suck. What would be a good, moderate-cost alternative?

Default Those look nice, but I'm looking for "moderate-cost," not $3k.

Are there any non-ECS, stock-sized 2-piece rotors that don't need new calipers?

Default Although....

OEM says it is 302x22mm

The Stasis part says it's 305x10mm?

Might need to call them...

Default I did get 20k out of mine but I haven't hammered he brakes.

I agree that they will warp easily if you do hammer them.

Default Agreed -- our winter wheels are 7-8lbs lighter than stock...

and the car drives like it's hundreds of pounds lighter in the winter with these wheels mounted (17" abt z4s?). Feels like I threw out a boat anchor in the summer...
