Are Recaro seats comfortable for long trips?

Could anyone who has had a chance to drive their S4 for long trips comment on how comfortable they are? I have test driven an S4 and love the seats, but wonder if they stay comfortable for long stretches. Any butt numbness?

I took a five hour trip and found I just needed to make a few adjustments along the way, like extending the seat bottom to support the legs a bit more. Back support is brilliant! Also depends on auto or man transmission. Cruise helps as well.

Well, I'm not trying to get TOO personal here! My current Saab 9000 is the best seat I've ever had. No numbness for long trips. Easy to adjust. I have two presets and change them occasionally. From the look and the brief test drive I took, the Recaros look to be even better.

I need to get one of those chairs the sharper image sells. They need to make one of the S4's Recaro's so I can feel the way i do in the car all the time. :-)

I hear ya - I just got rid of my 2001 9-5 Aero which had beautiful seats! The S4's however, are much nicer. You got a dealer nearby with an S4 on hand? If so, go check 'em out. If not and you live in the NYC/NJ area, I'd be glad to meet ya and take you for a scream!

Only done it once though, but in the b5 S4, it was fairly common around the 4 hr point to have the right side of my back start to get sore.
Few people I've met ever actually figured out this was a function of the car. A coworker of mine made the connection, and despite having felt it several times already, I didn't know what he was talking about it. After about the third time he told me about it, I went on a trip, and it finally clicked.
The B5's seats were actually not facing perfectl forwar. They were angled towards the right; they rotated the seats about the vertical axis towards the center of the car. This was a stunt the used to make the car feel bigger than it really is, by keeping your legs away from the outer wall.
The trouble is, you do in fact *face* directly foward, so you are sitting twisted. It's very subtle, so you don't know you're doing it, and that's why it takes 4 hrs before it start to hurt.
