Roadfly post regarding S4...

I am amazed that people even compare the TL to the S4, but this guy goes a step further by saying ..."I drove the S4 and some of the other audi A4's, and I'll go on record as saying that for this car (Acura TL) being under $35k, Audi is DEFINITELY smoking crack for asking $52k for the S4. This thing (TL) actually feels just about as fast, but does it in a much smoother fashion. It's not cramped like the audi, the audio is 10x as good, and it HAS BLUETOOTH (you know me and Bluetooth!) :-)

It has a lot more rear leg room, looks great, and I agree that for the money, you get a lot of car. I made a vow some time ago to never buy FWD and almost broke it with the TL. The deal breaker was that after several test drives, I decided that the car was almost dangerous at times. I only considered the 6MT model which comes with limited slip. Torque steer is bad under certain conditions, especially when the car hits uneven pavement under hard throttle. The steering is extremely light which I hated. Do I think the S4 is overpriced compared to the TL? Yes. Here in Canada, it is $26K more, and mine doesn't even have navigation. The TL doesn't even come close in the fun to drive category though. If it were AWD or RWD, that might be a different story. As it stands, I've never regretted by decision even for second.

Different storkes for different folks. If everyone liked the same thing, we would only have a half dozen different cars. BTw do you think the BMW owner could be a little biased?

Sounds like that was the type of fast he wanted. I love the TL, but it is a different car than the S4. If the S4 was more reasonable and the cost was down in B5 territory, I'm sure he might be thinking differently.

The TL is a great highway crusier and is super comfortable (also has a kicking sound system). But it not nearly as fun to drive. I have the 6MT TL and there is no comparison on the way the S4 and the TL drive. The S4 drives 100 times better than the TL. I kept the TL mainly for long trips. The car is just so comfortable and quiet.

Sounds like sour grapes. The TL is a nice japanese car, but quite dull. It drives well, and is well finished. So are most Acuras, Lexus, etc. They are for a different purpose/intend. Why someone would go and make a comparison is odd. Likely, he wanted an S4, but is rationalizing the the TL is better.
He wanted a Breitling, but he is telling the world that the Timex he bought was better!
