Seemed to rec*** some posts re the poor jack as I stared at my flat right rear tire yesterday. Got it stopped in a "relatively" flat area between an exit lane and the right travel lane. Fairly level but not flat, margin***y safe but as far as it would go without riding the rim with a big metal shard imbedded in the tire groove. 1st gear, full park brake, blocked wheels lr and rf, loosened the lugs and set the jack. As I started the jack up said to myself "seems simple, wonder what those posts were about?" As the right rear contact patch came off the ground the car kinda squatted left and then being on three tires settled rearward an inch too. This kind of got my attention but then *** was well, car securely blocked etc., so I pulled off the flat. The (full of air) spare wouldn't go on with the clearance I had left (remember the car moved slightly) so I went to raise the car. I noticed the jack was now in a position that would not ***ow me to go up or I would hit the body moulding. I could not go down or I would hit the rocker. Actu***y at least the rocker was already gouged from the initial movement. I was stuck. I put the spare under the right rocker/frame for some security and c***ed a wrecker to lift the car. BE VERY CAUTIOUS USING THIS JACK!!! I think it would be possible to use it if you jacked any tire up off the ground on perfectly level ground, let the car find it's position on three tires set it down and reposition the jack. Now jack the car and just MAYBE the jack would now stay in it's original position. Bottom line- there is minimal clearance between the jack frame and both the rocker panel and aero lower body side mouldings. Am considering having Audi look at the body damage I got using their jack.
