An RS4 front bumper wouldn't fit our S4's right? I know they're wider, so I'm assuming where the..
bumper meets the wheel well is going to be slightly wider. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

.. that's what I'm saying... and frankly before I do all that I still have my option open to get ..
the RS4......... Right now I'm just doing little mods to keep my satisfied.... i'm number one on the list for the RS at my dealer (either the guy who was first dropped off the list... or dropped dead).... I'd consider doing the bumper even though they're expensive, but getting into the whole bodykit is just ridiculous both time and money wise..........
... then i'd need wider wheels and tires to fill the space better..... plus I couldn't just do the fronts so the bumper fit, because that would look dumb.

you might be able to retro fit the rs4 bumper onto your s4 like people do on the B5

you're probably better off looking for an aftermarket RS4-style bumper
i.e. same style, but fitted to the A4/S4 front end. IIRC, there is one for the B5 platform, not sure about B7 though.
