Default Gas Mileage (Excessive) and Crude Oil Prices (Record)...

are a very big concern for future sales of performance cars. The horsepower wars are getting a serious look with all the manufacturers.

just an article that posted #'s and sales of the current rs6 model .. yes it's an article about the end of production for this model, but it also highlights it's success and plans for the next rs4 which will be based on the B7...

http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Audi_News/article_822.shtml</a

Default Contrary to what I heard in the Summer of 2003

Audi's S models will continue to be a part of Audi's lineup. No more RS models for models from the A5 (production version of the Nuvolari concept) up. QS will be the high performance versions of Audi's SUVs (Q4, Q6 and Q7) while S will be the high performance versions of the cars. There will be RS versions of the A2 (if it is ever built again), A3, A4 and the next generation TT. As for the SUVs, the Q4 will be on the B7 platform. The Q6 will be on the C6 platform. The Q4 and Q6 are similar concepts to the AllRoad (on the C5 platform) but far more sophisticated than the AllRoad. As for the Q7, that SUV, as we all know, is on the same platform as the Volkswagen Touraeg and Porsche Cayenne.

Default Don't forget about the FSI motors.

They improve economy while increasing output. These cars will still get better MPG than must SUV's with a whole lot more in the grins per mile catagory. The economy problems we have can easily be fixed with FSI and gearing. I'll take one of our Bahn Blasters over a porky SUV any day.
