Rubbing/shutter when turning S4...
Brand new '05 S4...1,300 miles, one month old.
When I need to make sharp turns -- usually in parking lots, left-hand turn lanes, true 90 degree turns...there seems to be a shutter/rubbing feeling in the wheel.
I know it's quattro...but this is my 3rd quattro and my previous two cars didn't do this.
Should this be happening?

same here
I have the same noise/problem that you describe...I went to the dealer for 5K service and they said that the power steering fluid was low, but when I drove home, just at the parking lot across the street, I noticed the problem was still there. I was in a hurry to get back home since the audi dealer for me is 90 miles from my home, but I still have the problem and have no idea what it is. Does it happen when you put in the clutch and are coasting? My noise goes away when i coast...it's only there when i accelerate.

That's what I thought. What's weird though...
is before Audis, I had Jeep Grand Cherokees...both with the Quadra-something or other...they did the grind when the wheel was turned sharply.
My past two B6 A4s...this did not happen, and I figured it was just the better engineering of Audi over Chrysler.
But now I get this souped-up so-called "performance" sedan...and it feels like I've regressed back to the GCs!!

Same for me with my previous A4 ...
My 98.5 1.8TQMS did not do this either. Neither did my wife's 99.5 A4 (2.8 Tip Avant) nor her current VW Passat 4-Motion Wagon. It might have something to do with the beefed up suspension on the S4.

It's definitely the quattro. This issue has been previously discussed many times.
it comes from the difference in the turning radius between the inside and outside tires. I have the same thing with my AWD Mountaineer. It's normal!
