Default S4 or A6 2.7T

I'm looking into a used 2000+ S4 or A6 2.7T. Since it's the same engine, I assume the real differences are interior space and trim. Is there anything else that would sway my decision either way? Also, any general advice on what to watch out for in purchasing a used Audi (ignition coil?) would be appreciated. This would be my first. Thanks.

Default This is a no-brainer....

The A6 is a pig, even with the 2.7T

Here's my vote...

Default I beg to differ...

while the suspension on the A6 is not great, it has advantages over the S4. The most noticable is the interior room. It has a LOT more. If you are hauling adults it's the only way to go. It has a huge trunk as well.

When it comes to buying a used A6 or S4 I'd probably go with the A6 as it is less lileky to have been abused.

It really depends on what the guy is after. A6 = more comfortable and probably not abused. S4 = more tossable and slightly quicker.

Default My 00 A6 2.7T was a great daily driver that was respectable at the track

It was clearly biased more in favor of luxury than sport, but with a six speed and the sport suspension you are only going to give up 1-3/10ths in a high performance driving situation. It was awesome on the highway and always had gobs of power at one's disposal.

I originally chose the A6 2.7T over the S4 in 2000 because you got more car for the dollar. It ultimately is a personal choice but don't discount the "fun to drive" element of the 00 A6 2.7TM...its a great vehicle.

Default Agreed...

I kicked butt at the track as I was pretty much untouchable in the wet. There were two Mustang Cobras that would eat me up in the straights but this big fat pig does pretty well for itself.

Other A6s (especially the 4.2) are much more reliable than the 2.7T.

Quick Reply: S4 or A6 2.7T
