Have any of you guys actually done this?

Is there anything I should know before doing this?

Default Yes. You'll probably need to jack up the car to gain accessibility, and you'll be fine.
The lining is tucked in the fender nicely still, I did mine about a month ago.

Default I agree with Sia. I've had to do this on three of mine now. Just go ahead...
and unscrew it and then use a razor blade to trim off the plastic tab that remains. It will not affect the liner staying up in place.

Had to just put a few pumps on a jack and use a torx screw wrench. Took all of 30 seconds.
