Default SD card reads empty...

I searched the archive and haven't found any info that helps.

I have a new 4 GB SD card with only 2 GB of MP3's. Even after I reformatted the card and filled it up again with 2 GB of MP3's the unit still states the card is empty. There aren't 5,000 files on the card and it works perfect in various computers and card readers.

In the past I have always received an error message when something wasn't right, never an empty card reading.

Any ideas?

Default Dumb question, but are you sure they are .mp3 and not another format?

Nav wouldn't recognize anything else, but your computer would. Just a thought.

I have read that 4GB cards do not work in our systems. Based on that input, I purchased a 2GB card and it works very well.

Also, you may need to change your ID3 tags. Usually when I load my SD card, about 25% - 50% of the songs show up in the Audi. I then change all of the ID3 tags and everything shows up.

NavPlus is a great site for audio/video advice.<ul><li><a href="http://www.navplus.us/">http://www.navplus.us/</a</li></ul>

They are mp3 format; I had two 2 GB cards that worked perfect until one became corrupt beyond repair. The wife took claim of the other one for her camera, so I picked up two new 4GB cards.

I'll try that site. I may have to give the wife a 4GB card to get my old 2GB card back. The other card I had is shot. In the past I did a search and saw where some people were having luck with the 4 GB card, so I figured I would try it.

The same folders/files work on a 2 GB card, so that may be it.

Default 4GB card could be SDHC...

...and I don't think they're backwards compatible with many SD card readers.

I was going to pick up a couple 2gb cards, because isn't there a reasonably small file (song) limit anyway?

Default You should also know that each SD card has a 512 item limit

This includes folder, playlists, songs, etc. I have never had more than 512 on my card, but I believe this is the behavior if your card has more than 512 items.
