Default The B5 S4 turbos spool almost instantly and effortlessly.

But I agree that stock for stock the B6 is going to be quicker.

Default My stock B5 S4 was quicker then my B6 S4 with me driving, but...

the B5 was not that fast in the begining. These cars require some breakin and I am not taking about the 500 miles increase rpm crape. My B5 didn't get loose until 10000+ miles and the B6 is the same. Both cars are to close 0-60 on paper such that the driver is the critical component.IMO

Oh yeah, it took me 5000 miles to learn how to drive B5 and get a good start. I will take the B6 over the B5 for quality of car, comfort, styling and yes, speed. But like the B5 it is going to take some miles and a few off the line runs to find the sweet spot with the B6. The torque/rpm response are inverse, keep the B5 rpm down from 3500-4000 rpm for fear of torque drop off and the B6 is just getting it's hackles up at 3000 rpm.

Default Factor in the weight of the Allroad, and you have a 1.5 second slower 0-60...if you got the 6-spd

Added weight, and tiptronic will make lag more apparent on the 2.7T motor. The A6 2.7T tip I had as a loaner obviously did not have the same lag feel as the 6-spd B5 S4.

Not talking about speed, taking about the turbos, they don't spool instantly and effortlessly

Correct, on the Allroad they wouldn't seem to.

Default He is talking about a race, starting off in first, 0-60.

Now tell me that I'm wrong about the turbos spooling instantly in that situation with even a moderate launch.

Default Compare that to 99% of other turbo engines out there.

In comparison, the 2.7T builds boost much quicker/easier. Max torque by what, 2500 rpm? Full boost comes on early compared to any other modern turbo engine I can think of.

Default No way. A chipped B5 is noticeably faster than a stock B6.

While a stock B5 is slower.
