I'll re-check the bolt in the elbow but I think it's more about Audi's design than the shifter...
like I said, overall I think the short shifter is great, there's only so much you can do with a shifter that felt like crap from the factory!!
The sloppy shifter was the first and only complaint I had with this car when I took it for a test drive.

I have had mine installed for coming up for 2 years and haven't had the slightest problem. Is it the **** or the lever that is loose? If you pop off the boot and surround you should be able to figure out what is loose.
