Which size Blizzak winter tire should I get? (2 options)

Yeah - Pirellis only. Sucks, but I ended up getting them.
The Pirellis' cold weather performance is significantly better than my old LM-22s (on my B5) - MUCH quieter, seemingly stiffer sidewall, less knobby look, and I expect better durability (though LM-25s supposedly improved on this over the LM-22s) - but I don't doubt I'm going to lose some performance once the snow falls. So far though I've been happy with the Pirellis.

They were listing a 235/40 x 18 but....
when I called TireRack early in the season to order them they said that that size is backordered and they do not if and when they will come in. I held off and made 2 subsequent calls both times getting the same answer. On the 3rd call TireRack said that it didn't look like Dunlop was going to supply them at all and thus I pulled the trigger on the LM-25s. I had the M3s on my allroad and really like them. There wasn't that much of a compromise, they performed very well (better than the stock all season tires that came with the allroad!). I can already tell that the LMs are a little softer than what I rememeber the M3s to be (also the allroad is a much heavier car so the M3s may be significantly stiffer). I made an aggressive highway on ramp run this a.m. and it felt a little like I was driving on brushes. I plan to check the PSI before I comment further and plan to offer a more complete opinion after I've had a chance to put them through their paces on the dry and snow. I did encounter a little snow and ice over the weekend and they were rock solid so I expect them to be very good in the snow.
