Default Ya, I meant true racing school. Figure it's the best way to learn the fundementals I can apply to

any road car down the line. I'll definitely like to talk more.

For now though, do you recommend karting school first, then possibly the 3 day racing techniques course? There are a lot of karting "series" on jimrussell's site, which is the most comprehensive if you know off hand?

I would think GT4 would be as realistic a sim as any PC game, no??

Default Trust me--while GT4 will be great, it is not as realistic as a simulation on PC.

I'm not hip to the latest PC games, but an older, flawless game was Grand Prix legends. The physics model was so perfect that many newer games still used it for years (like Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 1 though 4). While the cars in the game were old (1967 GP cars), the game was spot-on and the cars felt identical to the Barber cars!

Default No...it's meant to appeal to the masses.

The good PC driving simulations are too difficult for most. In fact, they are impossible to use w/o a steering wheel. Even then just staying on the track isn't easy. The Gran Tourismo games are very fun and the cars do a lot of things correctly...but they are way too forgiving.

Default Have you tinkered with their "racing" settings which seem impossible the first time you try them?

I know they either call it "drift" mode or racing, not sure. But the game is 10x more difficult when it's realistic with that setting.

Default

Perspective: "Racing" mode is maybe halfway between "Drift" mode and a true simulation.
