Default you dont understand what I am saying ....or

didnt read it or you dont care. if he wants to experience driving his own street car at the limit he should take it to the track. thats what I said. I also said karting is great experience - you just seem to always want to be contradictory.

re-read your posts and see who needs humility!

Default Thanks, guys no worries. I already know what my car can do on the street at its limits. ;-)

Would much rather get real training.

Default See that's where you're wrong. A kart will teach you how to drive anything.

All cars handle more or less the same. The amount of time per dollar you will get in a kart will educate you on how to drive YOUR car better than anything else. If you can master a kart, then you literally can learn to drive <i>anything</i> in a heartbeat. If you take $1,000 and spend it driving a kart, you will emerge a much faster driver than if you spent $1,000 tracking your own car. Twenty laps in your S4 just can't compare 500 laps of karting.

That was my problem with your post. You really don't have the experience necessary to make the statements you make.

Default Bottom line is most top open wheel drivers train in karts in the offseason

Michael Schumacher - F1
Paul Tracy - Kart

Who knows who else, but just having Schumacher enough reason to start with karts.

I think I'm already convinced of this...but that's for the reassurance.

Default I never said anything about going faster or teaching you to drive anything - I said

it is not the same as exploring your own car at the limits - some people like to get comfortable with thier own street car at the limit - we are not all race drivers. yes if he wants to learn to race and go fast karting is great and it relates to street cars - I said that too . stop misquoting some small part of my post and using it out of context to prove you are more knowledgable.
....and like you said to me: You really don't have the knowledge necessary to make the statements you make about my experience or lack therof.
dude - relax - get the chip off your shoulder - he asked for opinions - we are not all out to be national race drivers - some of us just like to enjoy our street cars on the track, personally I enjoy it more than karting - my opionion and sorry if you dont like it..... we will just have to agree to disagree.

Default Going faster and teaching you to drive anything = better control of your S4.

Your original response to Tuco's post, <i>"I think karting allows you to develop better feel &amp; precise control IMO"</i> was <i>"true if you drive a race car/kart - but its not the same as learning to drive your own car"</i>.

It <b>is</b> the same in that every single thing you learn in a kart will be applicable to your S4. That was my only issue, and as things do on a forum, it kind of spiraled away from the original intent. If I was too abrupt I apologize.

I literally owe everything I have right now (in an odd way) to the sport of karting, and I hate for it not to receive the credit it deserves. It's not a chip on my shoulder; I'm just defensive of the sport.

Default cool - no hard feelings...... maybe I wasnt ......

clear enough on what I meant - getting the feel for your own road car on the limit etc. - I have nothing against karting - its great fun.
