Default Sluggish throttle response on down shift blip - is it just the DBW?

coming on to my 35k maintenance, and I've always noticed a sluggish response when I blip the throttle during double clutch downshifts. Seems like the in general the S4 with drive-by-wire throttle should be razor responsive. Tell me how your's works if, when in neutral (warmed up car) you floor it and let off as fast as you can. When I do this my tach does not move. But if I hold it for a second, it responds. I'm I too picky? Is it a dirty throttle body, plugs, etc.? just looking for a comparison. thanks

Yup, it can go unresponsive at times like that followed by a surge up to 6000rpm. It's DBW.

Default You gotta learn to change the blip to a feathered blip..

that'll modulate it well and if you have an exhaust, it sounds great with the puhhh-pOOWWWW

Default Thanks, that's what I do and I wish I had the exhaust to enjoy it...

Wifey won't let me spend any more on the car. I'm fine with that for now...gotta add to the kid's college funds...

Default throttle adaptation via vag

or manually

1. Stick key in ignition and turn to the "ON" position.

2. Step on throttle all the way down and hold for 5 seconds.

3. Turn key all the way off while still holding throttle down.

4. Release throttle 2 seconds after turning key to "OFF".

5. You might be able to hear the reset taking place. You're good to go after a minute.

Default I still don't get the double clutch stuff ? what you describe is not real world driving ?

Yes, if you try hard enough you can trick the DBW into not responding exactly when you want, but does that happen under normal driving conditions ?
I have almost 65k of pretty aggressive street driving so far on my 05 and the car has never been unresponsive when I mash the go fast pedal?
So I ask again, why the need to double clutch in nomal driving ?
I row thru the gearbox up and down all day long, match shifts fine and never double clutch.

Default True, DC is unnecessary, but revmatching is good. Less wear and tear on your synchros, more control

etc.

Default Not sure what your'e telling me, but ya, he probably means revmatching...most people don't DC

I only do when getting back into 1st while already on the move...much less wear on the synchros, and actually doable!

But ya, so given the throttle maps are even worse when off clutch, double clutching and revmatching is even harder than just blipping.
